PAF-Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology (KIET) was established in 1997 with the aim of providing affordable and quality education. Academic programs at KIET are designed to prepare students to meet challenges of the fast-changing and developing world.
Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) recognized the Institute in 1998 and KIET was awarded a degree granting status through a charter from the Government of Sindh in the year 2000. KIET is also approved by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) for its engineering programs. Sindh Government’s Chartered Inspection & Evaluation Committee (CIEC) has consistently rated the Institute as “outstanding” for academic quality. Also HEC has awarded us the highest category “W” for our top quality infrastructure, facilities and very conducive teaching and learning environment.
KIET’s faculty comprises several members with PhD qualification and vibrant research background. They are actively involved in academically challenging and socially relevant research and in teaching advanced graduate-level courses at our Graduate School of Science and Engineering (GSSE). Graduate programs at KIET include MS and PhD in Electronics, Computer Science and Management Science. It is worthwhile to mention that KIET has been awarded external research funds to the tone of Rs. 30 million since June, 2012. KIET’s last two years’ cumulative impact factor of research publications is 47.9, which is one of the highest among the private institutions of the nation. MS/PhD admissions in Computer Science/Electronics Engineering Program are open at Graduate School of Sciences and Engineering (GSSE), KIET, Karachi for Spring 2015 semester. Several scholarships and teaching assistantships are also available, which will be awarded on the basis of test/interview result.
